Tuesday Night Paddles - Summer 2021

From May 17th the Rule of 6 is planned to end and the maximum group size outside of 30 people will apply.  We very rarely get groups this size so this will mean that we will be back to running normal summer Tuesday night sessions.  Members wishing to hire club boats and/or club kit will need to get in contact with a committee member to organise this at least 2 days before the paddle.

Sessions will start at 7pm (unless stated otherwise) and be subject to the standard PCC rules that can be found here: http://www.paigntoncanoeclub.org.uk/ClubRules.html

May 18th: Preston Sea Front.  Meet Preston sea front.  Paddle to Meadfoot and/or London Bridge, Torquay harbour and return. (if there is demand we can also practice sea kayaking strokes)

May 25th: River Teign Litter Pick.  Meet Newton Abbot Town Quay, Forde Road. Paddle up stream as far as we can and return, picking up litter.  Bring plastic bags and gloves.  Will need at least one open canoe (but preferably more)  to use as a garbage barge and a few volunteers to help dispose of the rubbish collected.

June 1st: CHANGE OF PLAN - Now meeting Preston for Surf session and BBQ as launching / landing likely to be difficult for original plan to BBQ Near Thatchers Rock. (new experimental trip) Meet Meadfoot, short paddle to a cove between the Orestone and Thatchers for a BBQ and return.  Bring Food, Drink and BBQ supplies as well as warm clothes and lights.

June 8th: Freshwater Quay.  Meet Freshwater Quay Brixham, paddle around Brixham harbour and to Broadsands and return (If there is interest can do more sea kayak training on this paddle)

June 15th: Orestone.  Meet Meadfoot to paddle out and around Thatchers Rock for shorter boats and the Orestone for longer boats, and return.

Tuesday Club Paddles From June 21st

June 22nd: Kingswear To Dittisham. Meet Darthaven Marina carpark, Kingswear.  Paddle upstream to Dittisham for Drink at Ferry Boat Inn (if its open) and return. Bring money for drinks and carpark. Or………….

June 22nd: Pool session:  1 standalone pool session 8-9pm at Torbay Leisure Centre. £3pp See newsletter for full details 

June 29th: Rolling and Rescue Practice Preston. Meet Preston Sea front for rolling, towing and rescue practice.  Expect to swim and get wet. 

July 6th: BBQ Institute Beach:  Meet Preston Sea front to paddle to Institute Beach for a BBQ and return.  Bring food, drink and BBQ supplies.

July 13th:  Kingswear to Brixham:  Meet at 6.30pm Brixham breakwater car park to organise shuttle to Kingswear, Darthaven Mariner carpark.  Paddle Kingswear to Brixham,  a long 9 mile paddle, touring and sea kayaks only.

July 20th: BBQ Silver Cove:  Meet Young’s Park Road Paignton, paddle to Silver cove for BBQ and return.  Bring Food, drink, BBQ equipment and lights.

July 27th:  Exeter Swing Bridge to Turf Locks:  Meet at Exeter University rowing club, next to the swing bridge on the south side of Bridge road, Exeter.  Paddle downstream to Turf locks pub for a drink (if its open) and return. Bring money for drink.

August 3rd:  Berry Head Caves:  Meet Brixham breakwater carpark to paddle out around Berry head explore the caves and return.

August 10th:  Totnes Paddle:  Meet Steamer Quay Car park, Totnes, Paddle upstream as far as we can and return.  

August 17th:  Kingswear Paddle:  Meet Darthaven Mariner carpark, Kingswear for paddle out to sea and around Dartmouth and return.

August 24th:  Meadfoot to Torquay:  Meet Meafoot carpark for paddle to Torquay harbour for chips and return, bring money for chips.

August 31st: Preston Boat Swap:  Meet Preston Sea front for boat swap and possible bay paddle and return.

September 7th:  Stoke Gabriel to Bow Creak:  Meet stoke Gabriel Mill Pool car park Paddle up stream to Bow creak for drink at Watermans Arms and return.  Bring money and lights.

September 14th:  Babbacombe:  Meet Babbacombe beach for general paddle and return.

September 21st:  Preston:  Meet Preston Sea front for general Paddle and return.

September 28th:  AGM:  PCC Annual General Meeting.  Location: Coffeeman (Devon) Ltd., Unit 7 Allervale Buildings, Moorpark Road, Kingskerswell, Newton Abbot. TQ12 5AZ - Meeting to start 7:30 so please arrive in plenty of time to get sorted & seated beforehand. There will be coffee tasting, cake and savouries, but no alcohol.  It would be useful to have some spare chairs as there is only about 6 there, so if you have a camping chair please bring it along.  Wearing a mask will be at the discretion of individual members.

October 4th:  (Monday) PCC Kit Return clean and check Paignton Harbour, see below

October 5th:  PCC winter season and pool sessions start, subs due.

All paddling trips and events are entirely weather dependent.  All Paddle sport has a certain risk to it. It is not and never will be 100% safe. Anyone attending any and all Paignton canoe club activities does so at their own risk. Pcc rules can be found at:
